Cleocin 100mg (suppositories)?

Christina asked:
For the past day or so my urine has had an extremely strong odor. I called the doc today. He couldn't get me in but decided to prescribe me a medicine that should take care of the urine smell and the discharge I have. I thought it was weird that he just did that instead of seeing me first but he has experience so I have to trust him. I was wondering if any of you ladies while pregnant, used Cleocin 100mg vaginal suppositories and if you had any side effects. Vaginal irritation, a UTI and diarrhea are the side effects but that's weird because I'm trying to get RID of the irritation!! Anyway, I'm really freaked out to take anything (my first baby) and almost broke into tears in the store and way home. I double checked w/pharmacist abt the safety of the med while pregnant and she said it's fine. I have to use it for 3 days.

Anyone use it before? I'm extremely nervous to use it. Help.
To the lady abt. the daycare-I live in Lakewood, OH. The name of the daycare I work at is Holy Family Learning Ctr. I can't remember its website (shame on me) but if you live nearby the number is 216-521-4352.
Also, the nurse on phone today said I'd need to be seen but then came back & said he was completely booked& she'd leave him a msg. And apparently he felt like he didn't need to see me so he just called it in. I don't see him again til 10/3. Is it odd for them to just call in meds w/out seeing patients? I know I just have to calm down.
Thanks for your help so far!!

I have not used it, and in fact have never had a UTI…but I would relax. Your doctor would not have called in any medication that would put your or your baby at risk. If it does not take care of the problem or aggravates the symptoms you already have, the doctor deserves another call, and you deserve an office visit. Best of luck and congrats.
PS. I saw an answer you posted to a question about daycare, and I think I live pretty close to your area!
EDIT: I actually don’t live that close, but I work in the Akron area, and I live in Trumbull County. You’re about an hour away! Good old NE Ohio. Gotta love the summer humidity and the piles of snow in the winter.
EDIT #2: It’s not unusual for doctors to call in meds, but it is if your condition hasn’t been absolutely diagnosed. I’ve had a ton of trouble with morning sickness, and my doctor has called in things for me when something else didn’t work. This can’t wait, though…if it’s a UTI you’ve got to get it cleared up before it leads to other problems. Waiting until the first of the month won’t be an option.

I have never used it before, but i know how you are feeling i am 8 wks pregnant with my 3rd baby and 2 weeks ago i had strep throat and was afraid to take the meds my doc gave me too!!! You just have to trust the doc and do what you think is best!! Do you have appt. with him in the next couple of days, if so you could wait and ask more ?’s about the meds!!! You will just have to use your own instinct!~!!
