How do bacteria develop antibiotic resistance? How can inappropriate use of antibiotics and other antibacterial products contribute to this problem? What should we do to combat it?

resistance can develop from overuse of antibacterials… or use of antibacterials to treat disorders that could be treated with weaker antibacterials. it arises from gene mutations and also can be conferred via plasmids from other resistant bacteria. the biggest problems arise in organisms such as MRSA and VRE which are harder to treat and usually multiply resistant.
