My 14 month old just took his last dose of antibiotics 2 days ago(for a sinus infection) and I just caught strep throat. Is he still protected?
My 14 month old took his last dose of Augmentin 2 days ago (for a sinus infection). I now have a bacterial infection in my throat and taking antibiotics. Is he protected?

May be 4 to 5 days, depends on type of antibiotics. Take a case of Neomycin. It is an antibiotic but it is not absorbed by body in blood so it only sterilizes gut & is excreated out with fical matter. Your child is not protected see a doc.

It depends on which antibiotic you take as to how long it stays in your system. The technical answer is 5 half-lives, but it will stop being effective before that.
After 2 days the antibiotic probably is not in your child’s system but he also probably has antibodies in his imune system agaist the original infection.
Safest thing to do is to see the doctor again and ask him or her these questons, and get some antibiotics for yourself, if your doctor thinks it is needed.
