Antibiotics
Ryan Liao asked:

Oral antibiotics have been one of the widely used treatments for acne after  over-the-counter treatments don’t work well for ones acne problem. There are two things that oral antibiotics does against acne. It acts like an anti-inflammatory medicine and tries to annihilate bacteria in your body (This includes those bacteria that are beneficial to your body). P.acnes, the bacteria that causes acne, is destroyed in the process.

Is antibiotics he most effective acne treatment ? Or is it yet another overrated acne treatment? Below I shall talk about three reasons why you should not use antibiotics treatment, and should never depend on it for long-term acne treatment.

The first reason is that it is not possible for antibiotics to eradicate all acne problem from its root. Even though it not only kills P.acnes, but also all other good bacteria in your body, but is it workable in a long run? It is impossible to depend on antibiotics for long term acne treatment, period.

The truth is that, bacteria is EVERYWHERE, it is impossible to totally annihilate bacteria. One seconds you kill all, another million of their blood brothers appears. If it is not possible to totally get rid of bacteria, it is also not possible to treat acne using antibiotics. No question about it. Yes I do think that for a short period of time, it could aids to improve your acne condition, however, using antibiotic for long term treatment is unfeasible.

An acne condition is similar to flu condition. It is not possible to get rid of all the flu virus in your body. The same goes for acne; it is impossible for you to eradicate all the bacteria off your body. Similar to treating flu, the way to prevent bacteria from spreading is to prevent growing inhabitant for it. Destroy homes of the billions and trillions of bacteria instead of trying to nail down each and every one of them.

Another reason why antibiotics will not work for long term is because when it is prescribed overtime; bacteria will build up resistance against it. Thus, using oral antibiotics as a long-term acne treatment sounds illogical.

Lastly, when you take in antibiotics, it is actually also killing the good bacteria in your body, and this will definitely affect your general health. As what you have learned from in your science class, there are good bacteria in our body that actually helps out in your body’s digestive system.

If you kill these good bacteria, it will certainly affect the digestion process in your body. If your digestive system slows down, toxins in your body will build up. Until the point where  toxins in your body is too much for your kidney to handle, it will cast the entire toxin to your skin. Suppose that if toxin were to be ditch away to your skin, acne is going to haunted you for life.

Zithromax
coconutty beanz xD asked:

I'm taking the generic brand of Zithromax: azithromycin 250 mg. I'm currently taking the 5-day pack and will take 1 tablet 3 times a week for 6 more weeks.

How effective is it for acne? What are my chances of developing an allergic reaction? What is the worse that can happen? And is there anything else I should know about it? (I researched it but I can't find too much info.)

Thanks =)
